MCMC looking into Aliff Syukri's 'Love Raya' video, says Fahmi

KUALA LUMPUR: A Hari Raya video titled "Love Raya" uploaded by entrepreneur Datuk Aliff Syukri Kamarzaman is being looked into by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), says Fahmi Fadzil.

"I believe he has deleted (the video) but I saw comments made by netizens and I also watched parts of the video.

"I have asked the MCMC to look into this. If the MCMC finds that there is a need to conduct an investigation, then it will be done," the Communications Minister told reporters here on Tuesday (April 2).

Aliff had uploaded a video on social media featuring a group of men dancing, which some described as provocative.

However, the social media influencer said he had deleted the video on Monday (April 1), adding that it was an April Fool's joke.

Fahmi urged public figures and social media influencers to be careful and consider if the content should be uploaded.

"We are worried how social media content can have positive or negative effects, especially on kids below the age of 13.

"This is a big issue. It seems that social media platforms are not taking responsibility when they have very vague verification methods where anyone can lie about their age," he said.

Fahmi also said he is scheduled to meet with three social media platform operators over the next few days to discuss the matter.

"This Thursday I will meet with Telegram and on Monday I will meet with Meta and TikTok.

"We probably need to make a few decisions to ensure that social media platforms are safe to use and won't be used by kids below 13," he said.
